About the Museum

Museum of Freedom and Human Rights

The Museum of Freedom and Human Rights is the flagship project of the Democracy and Freedom Foundation which focuses on the defense of human rights and their importance in Panama and the rest of the world. The museum has all of the following:


  • Three exhibition rooms with the most modern technology in Panama.
  • Tour guides with in-depth knowledge of the museum's subject matter.
  • Temporary exhibitions and a variety of public programs.

Mission

Our mission is to be a museum of individual and collective memory which documents the events and milestones which took place throughout the evolution of democracy and human rights in the Republic of Panama and the world.

Vision

We aspire to promote a more responsible, participative, empowered and inclusive society, which remains vigilant of its rights, and which strives to build a country which is fully free and democratic.

Values

Our museum is trustworthy, inclusive, educational, dynamic, and universal.

Board of Directors

Dr. Raúl A. Morales Rubio

President

Founding member. Doctor of Dental Surgery specialized in orthodontics, and professor in the Master's Degree Program in Orthodontics in the University of Panama. Professor, Andrews Foundation for Orthodontic Research and Education, in San Diego, California, United States of America. Ex-president, Sociedad Panameña de Ortodoncia y Ortopedia Dentofacial, and Associate Editor of the Andrews Journal of Orthodontics and Orofacial Harmony. International speaker.

Ignacio Mallol Tamayo

Vice President

Architect, founder and president of Mallol Arquitectos, a firm that has won awards in architecture biennials in Panama and Central America, as well as in national and international competitions.

Pedro Fábrega Parada

Secretary

Businessman and entrepreneur, he sits on the board of several local organizations. Member of the Consejo Nacional de Educación (Conased). While working for Xerox Corporation, he held leadership positions in over 20 countries.

Mahesh Khemlani Sadhwani

Treasurer

Businessman, entrepreneur, and financier, he sits on the board of several local organizations. Ex-vice minister of finance of Panama. Member of the National Committee of United World Colleges.

I. Roberto Eisenmann Vallarino

Director

Presides over The Eisenmann Companies, Inc., and sits on the board of several local organizations.

Dalia P. de Gateño

Director

Graduated from Georgetown University in 1995 majoring in International Relations, with concentration in Development Economics. She is the CFO of Cerro Punta, S.A. She is also president of Friends of Yad Vashem Panama, an organization dedicated to education and memory of the Jewish Holocaust during WWII.

Moisés Cohen Mugrabi

Director

Banker, entrepreneur, and lawyer. Founder and president of the board of directors of Capital Bank and Sistemas Jurídicos, S.A., among other businesses. Ex-president of the Asociación Bancaria de Panamá (Panama's Banking Association). Member of APEDE, the Asociación Amigos Yad Vashem Panamá, the Club Rotario de Panamá (Panama's Rotary Club), and the Fundación JUPÁ.
